USAID – Most Rotten Apple

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is now shut down. New Secretary of State Marco Rubio has taken it over as Acting Director. Revelations have come in lightning-fast, beginning over the weekend, showing that USAID has been a money laundry and a supporter of cronies at best – and dangerous projects at worst. This crisis has also brought out, as other crises have, the worst in the Democratic Party.

Timeline to shutdown of USAID

USAID ostensibly exists to support development efforts in “developing” countries, and to combat famine and other “chronic mass-casualty” processes. But its actual priorities have been anything but charitable or worthy. Many foreign heads-of-state always suspected that USAID was the money laundry for the CIA. And they’ve suspected the CIA of acting to overthrow governments at their pleasure.

Reportage on the latest events comes largely from The Gateway Pundit, with some from The Daily Wire. On Saturday (February 1), Messrs. John Vorhees and Brian McGill, two USAID officials in charge of security, refused access to investigators from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to certain material they said was classified. They also said the DOGE team members lacked the proper security clearances. (DOGE is a special advisory team and not a Cabinet-level department; Trump created it by executive order.)

Eventually, the team did access the materials they wanted, which included intelligence reports. (Red Flag Alert: why should an agency offering humanitarian aid have intelligence reports on file?)

The next day (February 2), according to the Associated Press, the administration placed both USAID officials on leave. Then, before the day was out, both the agency web site and its X account were down. That’s when the first dire revelations began to appear:

Trump speaks on the USAID! He says it’s run “by a bunch of radical lunatics”, and that we are “getting them out”. Trump is digging in the exact area the Deep State do not want him to dig. The USAID holds the paper trail that proves their criminality!

USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die.

Did you know that USAID, using YOUR tax dollars, funded bioweapon research, including COVID-19, that killed millions of people?

Jim Hoft had more on that COVID-19 revelation this morning. This vindicates journalist Sam Husseini, who questioned then State Department spokesman Matt Miller closely on this very subject. Among the recipients: the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Most governments don’t want USAID funds flowing into their countries because they understand where much of that money actually ends up. While marketed as support for development, democracy, and human rights, the majority of these funds are funneled into opposition groups, NGOs with political agendas, and destabilizing movements.

At best, maybe 10% of the money reaches real projects that help people in need (there are such cases), but the rest is used to fuel dissent, finance protests, and undermine administrations that refuse to align with the globalist agenda. Cutting this so-called aid isn’t just beneficial for the United States; it’s also a big win for the rest of the world.

RFK Jr. revealed that USAID was actually a CIA front, secretly funneling $5 billion in 2014 to ignite riots in Ukraine. According to him, these CIA-backed riots triggered a coup d’état that toppled Ukraine’s neutral, democratically elected government.

Just one month before the coup, a leaked call between Victoria Nuland and the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine exposed that she had already handpicked the country’s new cabinet. “So they’re picking the new government a month before the old government is overthrown.”

From on-line to brick-and-mortar

Yesterday (February 3) came the report that the Trump administration had shut down USAID’s building as well as its website. The Daily Mail said only “essential on-site and building maintenance” personnel should report for work. In the meantime, Elon Musk made this statement in an X Space titled “Doge and Mars”:

🚨ELON MUSK: “As we dug into USAID it became apparent that what we have here is not an apple with a worm in it, but we have actually just a ball of worms. If you have an apple with a worm in it, you can take the worm out. If you have a whole ball of worms, it’s hopeless. USAID is a ball of worms. There is no apple. And when there is no apple you just need to get rid of the whole thing. That’s why it’s got to go. It’s beyond repair.”

By mid-day, the agency’s director was out. Secretary of State Marco Rubio “put on a ssecond hat” to take his place as Acting Director. When he did, he gave an interview in El Salvador:

[The USAID] is a completely unresponsive agency. It’s supposed to respond to the State Department’s policies. It refuses to do so… A lot of functions of USAID will continue, but it has to be aligned with our foreign policy….

I am acting director of USAID. I’ve delegated that authority to someone but I stay in touch with him. And again, our goal was to go in and align our foreign aid to our national interests. But if you go to mission after mission and embassy after embassy around the world you will often find that in many cases USAID is involved with programs that run counter to what we are trying to do in our national strategy with that country or that region. That cannot continue. USAID is not an independent, non-governmental entity. It is an entity that spends taxpayer dollars and it needs to spend it, as the statute says, in alignment with the policy directives that they get from the Secretary of State, the National Security Council and the President and it has been 20 or 30 years where people have tried to reform it.

Democrats, in House and Senate, were apoplectic. Several of them congregated outside the shuttered agency headquarters to scream their displeasure.

BREAKING: Rep. Jamie Raskin blasts Elon Musk outside USAID HQ, declaring that Democrats will block DOGE from eliminating government waste and fraud. “Elon Musk, you didn’t create USAID.”

“He doesn’t have the power to destroy it, and who will stop him? We are!”

“We don’t have a fourth branch of government called Elon Musk.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. is $37 trillion in debt—and Americans elected President Trump, who promised to empower Elon Musk and DOGE to cut wasteful spending.

Later, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt held an impromptu press conference outside the White House. Brandishing an 8-1/2 by 11 sheet of paper, she read off four outrageous line items from the USAID budget:

USAID spent:

$2.5 million to promote DEI in Serbia

$70,000 for a DEI musical in Ireland

$47,000 for a transgender opera in Columbia and;

$32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru

The Daily Wire produced an analysis showing that 97 percent of staff political contributions went to Democrats.

Yesterday evening, Sen. Charles M. Schumer (D-N.Y.) posted this angry screed:

An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government. DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions. DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law. DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand. Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.

Elon Musk, thoroughly unruffled, replied:

Hysterical reactions like this is how you know that DOGE is doing work that really matters. This is the one shot the American people have to defeat BUREAUcracy, rule of the bureaucrats, and restore DEMOcracy, rule of the people. We’re never going to get another chance like this. Analysis

This morning, Musk revealed what attracted him to USAID as a target:

All DOGE did was check to see which federal organizations were violating the President’s executive orders the most. Turned out to be USAID, so that became our focus.

Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), who built a career on advocating non-intervention, knows why. USAID represents everything he hates about American foreign policy. He said so in his weekly program, which he shared yesterday:

The closing of USAID may be one of the most significant changes President Trump has made, among the many dramatic actions in his first couple of weeks in office.

Many Americans may still have the idea that USAID is a government agency delivering relief at disaster sites overseas. They may still remember the bags of rice or grain with the USAID logo on them, but that is not USAID.

USAID is a key component of the U.S. government’s regime change operations worldwide. USAID spends billions of dollars every year propping up NGOs overseas that function as shadow governments, eating away at elected governments that U.S. interventionists want to overthrow.

Behind most U.S. foreign policy disasters overseas, you will see the fingerprints of USAID. From Ukraine to Georgia and far beyond, USAID is meddling in the internal affairs of foreign countries—something that would infuriate Americans if it were happening to us.

High time, and way past time. Next target: the Department of Education.
