Support A Good Bill In Michigan!

Michigan legislators are considering a good bill that would protect parental rights by prohibiting camps from requiring a medical examination, vaccination, or treatment for children if their parents have religious objections.

Current scientific evidence suggests that unvaccinated children do not pose a risk to others, reinforcing the need for equal camp access regardless of vaccination status.

Ideally, SB 692 would prohibit all vaccine requirements for camp attendance or at least expand exemption options to include conscientious and medical exemptions.

The bill provides parents with a cause of action if their rights are violated, establishing criminal penalties to prevent infringement on religious objections to vaccinations.

The Weston A. Price Foundation supports SB 692’s focus on vaccination exemptions and does not take a position on unrelated provisions within the bill.

SB 692 has successfully passed the Senate and is now under consideration in the Families, Children, and Seniors Committee.  Your support is crucial to help this bill gain momentum and pass in the House!

  1. Share why this is personal to you.  Do you have religious beliefs that conflict with vaccination?  Have you or someone you know had a vaccine reaction?
  • No one knows in advance whom a vaccine will harm.  Each of us may respond differently as we have different medical histories, genes, epigenetics, and microbiomes.
  1. One of the most basic human rights is that of bodily autonomy, as recognized by the Nuremberg Code.  Ethical medicine requires prior, completely voluntary, and fully informed consent.
  • Vaccines are medical procedures that carry the risk of serious injury.  The U.S. Supreme Court recognizes vaccines to be “unavoidably unsafe” and to cause injury and death to some recipients.  The U.S. Government has paid out approximately $5.1 billion to the victims of vaccine injury.  http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/ensuringsafety/monitoring/vaers/
  • Vaccines have no long-term studies on their safety, genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, or effect on reproduction.
  • Vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer, Merck, and GlaxoSmithKline have paid billions of dollars in criminal penalties and settlements for research fraud, faking drug safety studies, failing to report safety problems, bribery, kickbacks, and false advertising [1,2].  Pfizer paid $2.3 billion in 2009 alone to resolve criminal and civil allegations [3].
