Crazy Thinking (Maybe)

Rudy Giuliani May Have Lung Disease Due to 9/11 Ground Zero Exposure, Attorney Says

Former New York City Rudy Giuliani may have a possible lung disease caused by being exposed to ground zero during the September 11 attacks in 2001, his attorney has said.

Gary C. Fischoff and Joan A. Keely objected in a 17-page court filing to plans to appoint a trustee to manage Giuliani’s debts after he declared himself bankrupt last year.

Last month, creditors asked a New York bankruptcy judge to a appoint a trustee to oversee Giuliani’s finances after a Georgia jury awarded $148 million to two Georgia election workers who filed a defamation lawsuit against him.

The bankruptcy filing said:

“The debtor is an 80-year-old former attorney, is barred from practicing law.”

“His only source of employment income is generated from his personal services. He is suffering from possible 9/11 lung disease, and his future earning capacity is limited both by his age and future health.”

It also added that the former New York City Mayor was not hiding assets or misleading creditors, saying, “there is nothing new or unusual about the manner in which [he] operates.”

Giuliani’s health issues where first reported in 2007 by Cleveland19:

Rudy Giuliani’s experience on Sept. 11 and at ground zero propelled him into presidential politics, yet by his own admission, it may also weaken his health – a key issue for any candidate seeking the White House.

Just last week, Giuliani was criticized by some firefighter unions for suggesting he was at ground zero as much, if not more, than many rescue workers and exposed to the same health risks. He quickly backed off that statement, saying he misspoke.

“I empathize with them, because I feel like I have that same risk,” said Giuliani, who was at the World Trade Center almost immediately on Sept. 11, 2001, and was onsite many times a day after that.

That assertion – made repeatedly by the former Mayor over the years – could pose a different challenge in his quest for the White House, by suggesting he may not stay healthy through a presidential term that would begin in 2009.

Giuliani, a 63-year-old cancer survivor, clearly wonders about his long-term health and that of his close aides who worked with him on Sept. 11, 2001, and after.

“I’m sure that some of these people are going to have symptoms, and maybe it’s not now. They’re going to have them five years from now or 10 years from now,” Giuliani said last year on the fifth anniversary of the attacks.

In April, Giuliani was arraigned on junk charges related to the Arizona alternate electors.

The former Mayor pleaded not guilty to all nine charges, including conspiracy, fraud, and forgery.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office released Rudy’s second mugshot after he was indicted by crooked Fulton County DA Fani Willis.
